| Batch scanning at its basic level |
Batch scanning is a relatively commonplace technique that is almost required anymore in today’s high volume, high-speed world. Scanning images from the scanner into a photo editor shouldn’t be an exception. This is where Art-Scan steps into the spot light. Batch scanning is completely new feature in Art-Scan that allows you to scan multiple images all at one time. Traditionally, if you wanted to scan more than one image at a time, you had to put the first image in your scanner. Then, you had to preview the image, crop it, and then apply any additional settings to it. Next, you scanned the image. Following that, you had to put another image in your scanner and repeat the process over and over - a time consuming process. Now, with Art-Scan's Batch Scanning mode, you can condense the above steps into a quick and easy procedure. Art-Scan now supports loading the scanner bed with as many images that will fit, select each individual image applying its own unique settings, and let Art-Scan process each image.

| 1) To begin with, place as many images on your scanner bed that can possibly fit. Be careful to make sure that the images don't overlap or you'll be unable to scan the whole image. You can use the entire length of your scanner bed. For this example we will be using Art-Scan 5.0. |
2) Next, use the Preview button to get a preview of the entire area of your flatbed. Take the time now to repeat this process, sampling the preview image to ensure that you've properly spaced each image to fit on the flatbed. |
| 3) You should see all of your images in the preview window by this point. You will now need to select "Batch Different Images on one Page" from the scanning menu above the Scan Mode option list. |
4) Once Batch scanning has been selected there will be some control settings appear beneath the scanning menu. You should see both a '-' and '+' button so you'll be able to add, or retract an image from the batch process. |
5) With the flatbed still loaded, perform one last preview to ensure that no pictures, or documents shifted since the last preview. Once the preview image is finished processing, and is displayed in the image area. Simply move your mouse over the image preview area, and then left click your mouse in one of the far corners of the first image you want to add to the batch scan. While holding the mouse left mouse button draw a crop box around the first image that you want to add. Go ahead now and select the proper scan mode and whatever enhancements or settings you wish for this image. After you've finished simply go up to the new controls that were displayed under the batch scanning setting, and click on the add button '+'.
You may notice the number of images change from '1 of 1' to '2 of 2'. By default the first area of the preview image you select is image 1, by clicking the add button you are specifying that you want a second image, which when you select any new area on the preview area, that area becomes the second image. |
6) When you are finished with the first image. You are safe to reset any of the settings that you applied to the first image. If you wish to have the same exact settings applied to the second image, simple leave the settings as they are, crop the second image as you did the first, and vala you've set your second image. If not, reset the options, and apply the options you wish to have applied to the second image. Again, size your crop box around the border of the second image in order to set the second image. If you wish to add a third image to the batch, like you did with the first click the add button '+'. |
| 7) Continue this process for each image that you wish to add to the batch scan. When you are done, simply click Scan, and Art-Scan will scan each image as an individual image applying the unique specifications that were set for each image. |
| To add or delete images use the + or - buttons on the VCR style controls located next to the Scan Mode drop down listing. For instance, if you wished to scan 7 images, you would click the + key until your total was up to 7 of 7 images. Similarly if you were set to scan 7 pictures, but then decided to scan only 4, you would use the - key on the VCR style controls to delete down to 4. If you wish to change modifications before you scan, you can use the << and >> keys to flip through your selections. As you flip through them, you will notice the crop box adjusts to the image and the modifications that you have made will appear in your settings. |
