Also many manufacturers are going to WIA drivers that leaves you with little advanced scanning features. Art-Scan replaces your WIA interface with this modern interface and tools. Or if you are just not happy with the functions made available to you by your scanners software, this software will replace the manufacturers software interface as well.

Descreening
Scanning printed material creates an unsightly moiré pattern in scanned images. Art-scan's Multi Level Descreening Filter allows you to remove this pattern by setting the original's halftone screen size. Art-Scan Pro removes this moiré while keeping the image sharp unlike most other methods of descreening.

Line and Noise Removal
As scanners get old, veritcle lines tend to appear in the shadow areas of the scanned images. In addition most scanners have trouble distinguishing between dark shades of black creating a fuzzy look in the shadows called noise. Line and Noise Removal attempts to locate these areas and smooth them out using an average of surrounding pixels.

Type of Scanning
Batch scanning is completely new feature in Art-Scan that allows you to scan multiple images all at one time. Traditionally, if you wanted to scan more than one image at a time, you had to put the first image in your scanner. Then, you had to preview the image and crop it. Next, you scanned the image. Following that, you had to put another image in your scanner and repeat the process over and over - a time consuming process.

The scan mode menu allows you to choose the type of image you are going to scan. This is where you select whether you want to scan in CMYK or RGB color, grayscale, line art, or vector art.

Image Adjustment Settings
This is the easiest way to enhance an image for most people. Many different adjustments can be manipulated with the scroll bar. You can choose the option you want to adjust, such as Highlight, Shadow or Saturation from the Image Adjust pull down menu. Then to adjust, use the slider bar or the right or left arrows on the scroll bar itself. For example to make your image darker, choose Dark<-> Light and move the bar on the scroll to the left.
