The email tab of Art-Copy’s setup window allows you to setup the email client that will be used when handling the Art-Copy’s “Scan to email” feature. With this in mind you can choose to use the default email client that has been specified on your local machine, be this Outlook, Outlook Express, or any other type of email client present. There is also the option to use the Jetsoft Art-Copy email client that can handle sending emails with the scanned files as attachments. In order to use the Jetsoft Art-Copy client several additional email settings are required.
In order to switch between using your existing email client click on the "Art-Copy Email Client" to use Jetsoft Art-Copy’s email client, or click on to the "Default Email Client" if you wish to change back to the default email client on your local system. Please note that the default e-mail client will only support MAPI compatible email clients. To ensure that your current email client is MAPI compatible please contact the e-mail client's manufacturer for clarification on compatibility.
SMTP Server:
- This is the SMTP mail server of the Internet service you use. Usually, it is filled automatically when Art-Copy is launched. If this edit box is empty or incorrect, enter your SMTP server name. If you do not know your SMTP server name, contact your Internet service provider.
- Your E-mail:
- This is the e-mail address. The format of this field is: "Your Name"<full e-mail address>. For example, “John”<John@doe.com> would be a good example of a common e-mail address setup.
- Setup for Email Options:
- An option with the Art-Copy Scripting e-mail tab is to create a template email receipt. The user can enter in a default e-mail address, email subject line, and a default e-mail message body to be used with the automatic scan to e-mail function. When scanning to a default e-mail client Art-Copy Scripting will also use this information to populate the new e-mail receipt with default information to make for more automated e-mail submissions.
- Send Email Automatically:
- The "Send Email Automatically" option is only available to the Art-Copy Email Client. In order to use the "Send Email Automatically" feature the user must enter in a valid e-mail address into the "To" field from the Setup for Email Options area. The user must also enter a subject line and message body into the "Subject" and "Default Message" fields respectively. After verifying that this required information is provided the option to send e-mails automatically will use this data to automatically populate an email receipt. This e-mail receipt will be sent out from the software automatically when the scan-to operation is set send to e-mail. No prompts or any other notices will be given as the email will automatically be sent from the Art-Copy software.
Please note that the "Subject" line and "Default Message" body have limitations on the length of text that can be entered. The maximum length for the subject line is up to 80 characters while the e-mail message is set to a maximum of 100 characters. There are also no newlines or returns allowed to be entered, and should the user enter any the line of text will be truncated.
