The Scan tab lets you control the quality and quantity of a scan image.
- User Defined Resolution: (Business and Enterprise Only)
- By default, Art-Copy uses different scan resolutions for different output destinations to balance the image quality and scan speed. However, you can set your own scan resolution by selecting the User Defined Resolution option. The user-defined resolution is used for all scans, no matter the output destination.
- Save multiple images into one image file (TIFF, PDF): (Business and Enterprise Only)
- Select this option to scan multiple images and save them as one image file in either TIFF or PDF format. To get multiple page image files with a Flatbed scanner or an unsupported ADF scanner you will also need to check the “Enable batch scan” also.
- Collate copies (1,2,3; 1,2,3): (Business and Enterprise Only)
- Select this option to copy or fax multiple copies of a multiple-page document in sequence so one complete set of document pages prints before another complete set. To collate images files with a Flatbed scanner or an unsupported ADF scanner you will also need to check the “Enable batch scan”.
- Scan from Automatic Document Feeder(ADF): (Business and Enterprise Only)
- If your printer has both an ADF and a flatbed, by selecting this Art-Copy ignores the flatbed, and will scan directly from the ADF. There are two options listed below this option, the "Duplex (hardware supported)" and the "Duplex (software supported)" check boxes. If your ADF is actually a duplex scanner you can simply check the "Duplex (hardware supported)", which will cause Art-Copy to scan both sides of a document and add them in order according to how they went in. Also if your ADF is not a duplex scanner Art-Copy can make it into one.
By checking the "Duplex (software supported)", Art-Copy functions as a duplex scanner. Simply feed in the batch of images/documents letting Art-Copy scan each to the last one in the feeder. Then once they are finished scanning Art-Copy will prompt you to put them back in turning them so the back of the file is now facing where the front was poisitioned. Then once again set them into the ADF and Art-Copy will scan each till the very last one. Art-Copy will then reorder them so that the front of page one is 1, the back of page one will be 2, and so on. The Duplex option is only available in the Enterprise version.
- Enable batch scan: (Business and Enterprise Only)
- By selecting this option on the next scan Art-Copy will prompt you to enter in the number of batches you would like to scan. For example, if you have 20 documents in your ADF, and you'd like to only scan five documents at once. Simply type in 5 when the batch scan menu comes up and only five of the twenty documents will be scanned. You may aslo check "Ask me whether to scan additional pages" so that you will be prompted again to enter in another batch amount till you finish the scan job.
- Ask me whether to scan additional pages: (Business and Enterprise Only)
- This option will need to be checked in order to scan multiple pages using an unsupported ADF scanner, or to pause scanning between pages while performing a batch scan using a flatbed scanner. Without this option selected scanning to a multiple page image file from a flatbed scanner will be disabled.
- Show preview screen (TWAIN) before Scan:
- Usually, Art-Copy scans and prints without appearing on your TWAIN driver user interface (UI). You may select to use this UI to preview your document and select an area to be scanned before performing the scan operation.
- Show Scan Summary: (Business and Enterprise Only)
- The “Show Scan Summery” option will after a successful completion of either a single document scan or a multi page batch scan will bring up a summary dialog window. From this summary window will be a detailed listing of the last document(s) scanned as well as their location on the local or networked system. This is a handy feature to verify that the files have indeed been created, and are currently stored in the specified location.
- Delete image after output: (Business and Enterprise Only)
- You may not want to keep the image(s) after you print. If you check this option, all the images will be deleted from your hard disk after they are printed. This option will not affect images that are sent to applications or are saved to the local disk.
- Administrator Options: (Enterprise Only)
- Art-Copy was given a non-administrative lockout for System Administrators who wish to keep the files being created by Art-Copy in a central location. What the non-administrative lockout will do is keep non-administrative users from browsing system directories or network directories for locations to save the Art-Copy created image files. This will free the Administrators from the need to trace down stray image files, and will allow for easy cleansing of system space if the case should arise. This option is excellent for systems where multiple users will have access to the local system using Art-Copy such as libraries, document management offices, or any other multi user environment.
