Art-Copy lets you scan an image and then convert it to a text file. The OCR tab lets you configure how to achieve the best results. (Enterprise Only)
- Language to recognize:
- Art-Copy’s OCR functions support scanning OCR documents in not only English, but will also scan documents into alternate languages based on the supported languages included with the installation files. By default the OCR language will default to English.
- OCR Settings:
- Degraded:
Degraded is best used when trying to OCR a document that is of poor quality or the text located on the page is somewhat masked. This option will give you the best text recognition while recognizing text.
- Force Single Column:
Forcing single column will create a document that is formatted into a single column when the exported text document is created.
- Bias for Numbers:
If the content of the document to be OCR’ed contains a large quantity of numbers the “Bias for Numbers” option allows Art-Copy to distinguish the difference between numbers such as “5” from letters such as “S”. This will help with the overall accuracy of the text recognition.
- Recognize DQDM:
If a document was printed using a dot-matrix printer the “Recognize DQDM” option will allow the scanned document to be read easily by the OCR text recognition system.
- PDF page with orginal image on top:
- By enabling the “PDF page with original image on top” Art-Copy will scan the document with the OCR function to create a text searchable PDF document. Instead of having the recognized text displayed on the PDF page the scanned image of the original document will be used as the page image instead of the newly recognized text image.
